4/30/2023 0 Comments Metadatics remove album artMost of the problems I've encountered can all be fixed with a SW Update. They're going to put the little resources assigned on these issues to work on the current model. I also understand (but do NOT agree with) the fact that Chevy is just not selling brand new 2014 Malibus anymore. I would think, er- hope that anything local with the file would trump any reason to connect to Gracenote to "fill in the blanks" if you will. It's hard to know for sure, though, if the album art is being pulled from the existing file's metadata or if it's pulled from something OTA with Gracenote. If it just needs to be changed to something else that MyLink will recognize, okeedokee. You can change the album art so that the "Front Cover" is listed as "Back Cover" or a number of other options. I don't have my laptop with me at the moment, but I use a Program called Metadatics. I'm wondering if the Album Artwork needs to be listed under something other than "Front Cover". I could go on and on with what seem to me to be just basic things that need to be addressed. I remember seeing at one point on this forum that Gracenote will only be able to show album art for albums that existed at the time or earlier from when it was initially rolled out on the device (MyLink Update that came with the car initially)? Is that true? Is there no other way to force the correct artwork to be displayed? If the answer is no, doesn't that just seem to be ridiculous?Īlso as a side note, why do the album/artist names/titles not scroll when they're too long for the display to show all at once? Isn't that just a wrap around text option?Īlthough the MyLink stereo is MILES ahead of your standard "Dumb" stereo, the lack of follow through on updates to correct what are seemingly basic functionality issues are just awful. How is it that a great majority (maybe half?) of my music that's played through my Stereo (MyLink / 2014 Malibu LTZ2) just shows the generic "Genre" placeholder artwork or a picture of the band or artist instead? I know this has something to do with the Gracenote option, but I've experimented with that option both Enabled & Disabled. I actually have an auto-updating smart playlist created to show me any tracks that don't have any artwork, and it's currently empty. The music I listen to from my iPhone is all via Music.app and the Album Art there all comes from Apple. I've meticulously gone through all of the metadata on my USB Stick and confirmed every single music file has the correct album art set under the "Front Cover" item. I frequently alter listening sources from my USB Stick and from my iPhone 6S connected via Bluetooth. I am a first time BMW owner, really really happy with my 2017 430i I might add!īut does BMW issue a lot (or any) software update for drive, stereo etc?I'm a little confused on how the Album Art in MyLink works. Even if I removed file and put in a different copy I end up seeing the old and new file when I insert the USB stick back in the car.Īny advice here? Cant I remove a song/replace it or do I need to re-format the stick?Īlso what is the best format to use, FAT 32? I never read anywhere that Apple lossless format in >320 kbps is not supported.ĭid I miss it somewhere and do you think it will be supported in an upcoming upgrade of the SW for the system or should I just re-rip my songs and get it over with?Īnother question. Any m4a song in 256kbps or lower bitrate was fine (Yes, I am an Apple guy through and through). These were the songs I had ripped in Apple Lossless format. Some of my songs in m4a format refused to play and I finally figured out why. However I ran into another issue that I wasn't expecting. Some files already have it but most don't. If you use a Mac you can just use a tool like Metadatics to add art that is missing. Funny, the Genius told me this was not possible. If you ensure you use a tool to include the album art within the audio file itself the iDrive will display when playing the song, after a few seconds.
